Brad Parscale, a former campaign manager for President Donald Trump, has been hospitalized after a suicide attempt at his home in Desota Drive in the Seven Isles community of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, late on Sunday afternoon.
A call was made from his home by his wife, Candice, who told the police that Parscale had access to multiple firearms in the house and was threatening to harm himself.
When police arrived at the scene, they identified the subject as Brad Parscale and quickly set out steps to douse the tense atmosphere around the home.
In a statement by a Sergeant for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, DeAnna Greenlaw, he said officers negotiated with Parscale, gained his trust, and safely took him out of his home for medical intervention and assessment.
Brad Parscale was taken to the Broward Health Medical Center, according to Florida’s Baker Act. It is an Act that gives law enforcement officials, mental health professionals, and physicians the power to temporarily detain an individual when they have deemed a threat to themselves, especially in cases of suicide attempts.
Brad Parscale, currently the Senior Advisor for Data and Digital Operations for Donald Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign, was up until July, the head of Trump’s campaign. In 2016, he was credited with playing a major role in Trump’s election to the White House. He has worked with the Trump organization since 2011, designing websites and developing a series of digital media strategies that saw Trump’s popularity rise en route the 2016 election.
However, Parscale was demoted in the Trump’s campaign organization when poll numbers showed that president Trump was trailing behind Joe Biden. He faced intense pressure from Trump following the campaign trail in Tulsa, Oklahoma, which attracted a very sparse crowd of 6,200 people, much to the chagrin of President Trump. He was replaced with Bill Stepien, who was the then deputy campaign manager. Since his demotion, Brad Parscale was barely seen in the campaign office.
The Trump Campaign Organization swiftly responded when news broke out about the Parscale situation. In a statement by Tim Murtaugh, Trump’s campaign manager, he said Brad Parscale is a much-loved member of the family, and the entire team was behind him at this critical period.
In a targeted swipe at the Democratic Party, Murtaugh said the Democrats had taken the personal antagonism against Parscale too far, alleging that their “disgusting attacks” were responsible for the emotional distress that Parsacle was currently suffering.
