Lebron James reacted to Joe Biden’s election victory by posting a photoshopped image of the former vice president and President Donald Trump while taking a direct shot at the latter.
The photo in question was from the 2016 NBA Finals, where James could be seen blocking a shot by Golden State Warriors forward Andre Iguodala. That performance was one of the highlights of his impressive career, and it won for the Cleveland Cavaliers the 2016 NBA championship over the favored 73-9 Warriors.
In the said photo, Biden’s head was superimposed on James’ head, and Trump’s head appeared on that of Iguodala. It simply represented Biden blocking the reelection bid of Trump. James posted the photo on his social media handles hours shortly after Pennsylvania was called in for Biden, thereby effectively making the former vice president the president-elect of the United States.
It was a celebration galore for James, who continued to tweet in support of the election victory of Biden. He sent out appreciative messages to his Philadelphia community for coming through for Biden with their votes. He also sent in the video of CNN’s Van Jones, who broke down emotionally while he analyzed the victory of Biden. Jones, who couldn’t hold back tears, said in the video, “character matters, being simply a good person matters!” This statement formed the basis of James’ caption.
Not done with taking a swipe at President Trump, James yet again tweeted a photo of himself smoking a cigar and tagged the “More than a Vote” campaign. He retweeted a meme of Trump saying, “you’re fired” on The Apprentice.
James and Trump had never seen eye-to-eye since the president was elected four years. He was among the fiercest critics of the president from the sporting world. When the president in 2017 withdrew the White House invitation that he extended to the Warriors, James called him a “bum.”
However, the president responded afterward when he took a swipe at James and questioned his intelligence in a tweet he made in 2018.
“Lebron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon,” Trump tweeted. “He made Lebron look smart, which isn’t easy to do. I like Mike.”
With Trump out of office, James said he could now accept an invitation to celebrate the Los Angeles Lakers’ title. Responding to a tweet by Warriors forward Draymond Green, he said he would be taking his tequila and vino along with him.
