An unnamed director who forgot to mute his microphone during a Zoom auditioning for Euphoria actor Lukas Gage is currently being slammed online for remarking that “these poor people live in these tiny apartments; like, I’m looking at his background, and he’s got his TV…”
The director believed he had muted his microphone during the video conferencing call before making the saucy remark to another person on the other side, People reports. But Gage heard everything and quickly tells the director, “I know! It’s a shitty apartment. Give me this job so I can get a better one.”
Gage went on to tell the anonymous director that “Listen, I’m living in a 4-by-4 box; it’s fine. Just give me the job, and we’ll be fine. The director instantly became remorseful and apologized for his error and said he was “mortified” for his gaffe.
Gage posted the video on Twitter and people were quick to condemn the director for his unwise and careless comments. Gage advised people on social media to always mute their microphone before making careless remarks during live conferences. He captioned the video exchange “PSA if you’re a shit-talking director make sure to mute ur shit on zoom mtgings.”
Lukas Gage has starred in Euphoria, Love, Victor, and featured in American Vandal and Veronica Mars.
Filmmaker Charlie McDowell asked Gage to mention the director so that he could mark him and avoid working with him, adding that “I can only imagine how bad this director’s movies are.” A number of commenters commended Gage for handling the matter like a true professional and stated that his apartment is not looking bad at all.
A few persons said they like his apartment and others said that is what new and potential actors undergo at the hands of directors, saying many of them have little or no respect for new actors. It is however unknown if the particular director gave Gage the role or if he moved on to some other persons.
