David Guillod, the producer of Netflix’s The Extraction, was once again arrested by the police for sexual assault on Wednesday. This new arrest is coming four months after he was charged with the drugging, raping, and kidnapping of four women.
Guillod was out on bail when this current arrest happened. The Santa Barbara County District Attorney’s Office was prosecuting his previous assault allegations. The Los Angeles Police Department had on October 21, reported that a woman whose identity they could not reveal accused Guillod of sexually assaulting her when they both went out on an evening date.
Guillod was subsequently arrested at his Sherman Oaks residence and booked at the Los Angeles Police Metropolitan Detention Center. He was held on a $5 million bail. Now, detectives are asking other women who may have had negative encounters with Guillod in the past to come forward to help investigators. The detectives advised them to contact the Los Angeles Police Department, Robbery-Homicide Division detectives at (213) 486-6910.
When allegations against him were made public at the beginning of the year, Guillod turned himself to the Santa Barbara Police Department officers. The Department did not reveal the identity of the three women who had pressed charges against him. However, the department charged Guillod on 11 felony counts, including rape and kidnapping to rape.
According to one of the women, Guillod had sexually assaulted her during a corporate event in Santa Barbara in 2014. Guillod, who could face up to 21 years imprisonment if found guilty, is vigorously contesting these charges. District Attorney Joyce Dudley’s office is handling his case.
A case brought against him by his former assistant in 2017 precipitated the wave of charges against Guillod. That same year, an actress, Jessica Barth, who starred in the flick Ted, accused the producer of drugging and raping her when the pair met for dinner in 2012.
She reported the assault incident to the LAPD, but when the producer threatened to destroy her career with his lawsuit, she quickly withdrew the charges. However, when another woman came forward with claims that Guillod also assaulted her, Barth took courage and reopened her charges with the police. These accusations made the Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey’s office to commence their investigations.
Hollywood actress AJ Cook, whom Guillod had previously managed, also came forward with her claims. She sued Guillod in 2019 for $1.6 million, accusing the producer of not telling her about his record of sexual assault. She said the association with Guillod had affected her brand as a women advocate. Surprisingly, her studio had previously sued her when she claimed they didn’t pay her commissions during her time with them.
Following the series of allegations against Guillod, he was removed from his position with Primary Wave Studios on November 4, 2017.
Guillod was the producer for the highly acclaimed 2020 film, The Extraction, which featured Chris Hemsworth. His other works include Atomic Blonde (2017), and The Intruder (2019).
