John Legend poured encomiums on his wife Chrissy Teigen after dedicating the 2020 Billboard Music Award of the song Never Break to her. In a moving Instagram post he made on Thursday, the multi-Grammy award-winning singer revealed that he is in “awe” of his wife’s strength through the most challenging moments the couple faced, MSN reported.
He shared a video of his performance and wrote, “This is for Chrissy. I love and cherish you and our family so much.” John Legend proceeded to write a lengthy piece extolling the virtues of his wife and how she handled her recent miscarriage, which had happened two weeks earlier.
“We’ve experienced the highest highs and lowest lows together,” the singer wrote. “Watching you carry our children has been so moving and humbling. I’m in awe of the strength you’ve shown through the most challenging moments. What an awesome gift it is to be able to bring life into the world. We’ve experienced the miracle, the power and joy of this gift, and now we’ve deeply felt its inherent fragility.”
He explained the rationale behind the song Never Break which he dedicated to her, saying it meant they’re being resilient in the most challenging difficulties. He recounted their promise to each other on their wedding day seven years ago, in which they promised to stand by each. “Our love will remain. We will never break,” he added.
Legend went on to share words of appreciation to everyone who sent in warm wishes and support during their trying time.
“Thank you to everyone who has been sending us prayers and well wishes, flowers, cards, words of comfort, and empathy. We feel and appreciate your love and support more than you know.”
Sharing words of solidarity with families and couples who have lost their babies through miscarriages, Legend took comfort in their ability to weather the storm.
“More than anything, we’ve heard so many stories about how so many other families have experienced this pain, often suffering in silence. It’s a club no one wants to be part of, but it’s comforting to know we’re not alone.”
He further said the wife Chrissy would speak out at the right time.
On September 30, in an Instagram post that revealed her devastation, Teigen had shared the news of her miscarriage to millions of fans. She said she and her husband were “shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before.”
Prior to her miscarriage, Teigen had been hospitalized due to excessive bleeding from her placenta. She had revealed in her post that the baby would have been called Jack, saying that he would forever be a part of their family.
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have two children together – a daughter, Luna Simone, 4, and a son Miles Theodore, 2.
