Miley Cyrus Breaks Sobriety during Pandemic, Says She’s Not Moderate

In an interview published on Monday, 28-year-old Miley Cyrus told Zane Lowe how she slipped from her sobriety during the pandemic. Cyrus, who turned 28 on the same day the interview was aired, when asked how she was holding up with her sobriety told Lowe that she “fell off” and gave in to the urge.

Cyrus explained that she is back staying away from the bottle and has been sober for two weeks. She stated that she had not dealt with her slip by blaming herself but by asking what had happened to cause it.

“Don’t get furious, get curious” she named the technique she used, explaining that she has used it frequently and it demands her to ask herself why she had done something rather than getting angry that she had done it.

The “Wrecking Ball” singer explained that her problem with drinking isn’t really drinking but the actions and decisions she makes whenever she exceeds her limit. She also explained that she feels everyone has the right to make decisions that work for them, whether they wish to imbibe or stay sober, Yahoo writes.

The singer and songwriter whose lifestyle choices are often controversial described herself as “very disciplined”. She stated that she is handling her sobriety well, and she has a hold on her urges. She explained that she doesn’t find it difficult to stay away from drinking but that whenever she decides she wants a drink, she just has to go for one.

The artist said that she was very serious about staying sober through the age of 27 because of the many national icons and celebrities who have lost the battle to addiction at the same age.

“Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, Jim Morrison, and Kurt Kobain are some many celebrities that died at 27,” Cyrus explained. “It is an age that determines if there will be the next chapter or not.”

Many popular actors and artists have died at 27 from drug addiction and other causes, prompting the infamous list “27 Club” a list detailing the names of celebrities who died at 27. Some names on the list lost the battle to addiction while others died as a result of accidents, suicide, and other causes.
