President Trump’s Personal Lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, Tests Positive for COVID-19

Former New York Mayor and personal attorney to President Donald Trump, Rudy Giuliani, has tested positive for COVID-19. He is the latest in a long line of close presidential aides that have tested positive for the virus in recent months. Trump announced on Twitter when he extended his best wishes to Giuliani, asking him to get better.

Giuliani also came out to confirm the news on his Twitter handle, saying that he was getting top-notch medical care and was feeling better. Although there was no information on when the attorney received his test results, a source privy on the matter said Giuliani was admitted to Georgetown University Hospital on Sunday.

Giuliani has been the leading attorney on Trump’s legal team seeking to overturn the outcome of the November 3rd presidential poll, which the president and his campaign alleges was fraught with irregularities and voter fraud in favor of President-elect Joe Biden.

Just like Trump, the former Mayor of New York is not a fan of mask-wearing and other coronavirus pandemic safety protocols. He has been seen appearing in public events, news conferences, and elsewhere without putting on a face mask, Fox News reports.

His last public appearance was at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta on Thursday, where he appeared before the Georgia state Senate for a hearing. While the hearing was on recess, Giuliani took off his masks and engaged in warm embraces and handshakes with supporters who also took pictures with him.

His previous appearance was on Wednesday, where he appeared before a state House committee for a hearing that took hours. All that time, Giuliani was without a mask as he argued his claims. Giuliani had started the week on Monday in Arizona, where he met with some Republican Party members of the state’s legislature to discuss issues pertaining to the presidential elections.

Mike Philipsen, the communications director for the Arizona Senate, confirmed to media sources that the Arizona Senate would be shut down this week over fears from the coronavirus pandemic. He said that members and staff of the state Senate would henceforth be working from home. However, there has been no known positive case of the coronavirus infecting affecting any member. As part of coronavirus concerns, the House would also be shut down.

The Trump campaign, in a statement, said that the attorney had tested negative to the coronavirus on two occasions just before embarking on the numerous journeys he did that week. The statement confirmed that it was only after he came back home that the symptoms began.

Jenna Ellis, the Trump campaign attorney, was regularly seen with Giuliani while he attended events concerning the elections in different states. She sent her best wishes of quick recovery to Giuliani on Twitter and said the legal team would continue the good fight. Giuliani’s son, a staff member at the White House, had tested positive for the coronavirus just last month.

Sen. Elena Parent, a Georgia state Democratic lawmaker, said Giuliani endangered everyone at the Senate by his flouting of coronavirus safety protocols. She lambasted the Georgia Senate Republicans for their blatant disregard of protocols during the in-person hearing, calling their actions reckless.
