Nathan Daniel Larson, a 40-year-old man from Virginia, who is described as a white supremacist, is facing pedophilia charges in California and Colorado after kidnapping a 12-year-old girl, CNN reports.
Larson, who is currently in Denver County jail on a misdemeanor charge, is wanted in California for felony-related charges. The authorities said Larson employed such sophisticated grooming methods that he may have in his wake numerous other victims.
According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s office, Larson is a pedophilia advocate operating a website that encourages the rape of children. There is also the distribution of videos and photos of naked children on his platform.
The sheriff’s office gave a breakdown of events leading to Larson’s kidnapping of the young girl. Larson contacted the girl, who resides in Fresno in October using social media. The contact on social media was followed by about two months of grooming, in which he manipulated and brainwashed the girl. He also convinced the girl to send him naked pictures of herself.
The statement noted that Larson decided to physically meet with the girl. He traveled to Fresno on Monday and convinced the girl to come to see him in the wee hours of the night. After their meeting, he used a cab to take her to the airport. Her physical appearance was disguised using a hair extension. He also told her to play the role of a disabled person, who was unable to speak in the course of their flight.
It was after a while that the girl was declared missing. Detectives attached to the case uncovered how Larson had taken the girl on a flight to Washington, DC while stopping over in Denver. The authorities quickly contacted officials in Denver, asking that they conduct a search for Larson in the airport.
Larson was arrested and the girl was found unhurt. Arrangements have been made for her to be reunited with her family on Monday evening.
While he is charged with harboring a minor in Denver, Larson faces more serious felony charges in California. Among the charges brought against him are kidnapping, child abduction, child pornography, and grooming a minor for sex. An extradition order has since been requested by the Fresno County Sheriff’s office.
Other victims have been urged to come forward. Detectives working on the case believe the 12-year-old girl is not Larson’s first victim due to the level of sophistication he used to groom her.
Larson is no stranger to felonies. He once served 14 months in federal prison for threatening to kill then-President-elect Barack Obama in 2008, in an email sent to the US Secret Service. In 2017, he ran for the Virginia House of Delegates as an independent and lost. He has held certain unsurprising views, such as agreeing to the abolition of age restriction on marriages and laws against marital rape, the legalization of incest, and white supremacy. Larson once said Hitler was good for Germany.
