US 2020 Election: The Battle Is Not Over, Says Trump's Lawyer Rudy Giuliani

Rudy Guiliani, former Mayor of New York City and President Donald Trump’s lawyer, has announced that the race for president of the United States is “far from over”, even though President-elect Joe Biden conveniently reached and surpassed the minimum Electoral College votes of 270. The Republican politician made the statement in Philadelphia on Saturday during a news conference.

Guiliani stated that Trump will not concede defeat until the controversy surrounding the mail-in ballots are resolved by the courts. He stated that the authenticity of over 600,000 ballots is still in question and until all the issues are resolved the president will not make any concession speech or accept that the election favored Biden. Guiliani also revealed that the Trump campaign has filed lawsuits in many states to contest the outcome of the results.

The president appeared to be leading Biden in swing states while in-person votes were being counted. As soon as mail-in ballots counting started in states such as Pennsylvania, however, Biden continued to cut into Trump’s win until he finally overtook him and ended up winning the 20 electoral votes of the state. Trump and his team have since been making unsubstantiated claims of electoral malpractices in those states.

One such claim, made by Guiliani on Saturday is that the Republican poll watchers were not allowed to properly carry out their duties because they had to stand far from where the votes were being counted. Media outlets and Democrats have countered this claim stating that poll watchers from all parties were asked to stay in the same place.

“We could not properly observe the ballots in Philadelphia,” Guiliani said. “Those ballots could have been cast by aliens or Biden and the Democratic National Committee could have been responsible for those votes, as far as we know.”

According to the former mayor, there were problems with the counting of mail-in ballots in Wisconsin, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. He alleged that the fraud with the mail-in ballots was masterminded by the Democrats. Guiliani, a former Democrat himself, argued that the majority of the voters backed Trump and the election results do not represent the popular decisions of the people of the United States.

President Donald Trump has been recounting the same stories on Twitter. The president has posted several tweets that have been flagged as disputed by the social media platform. In his tweets, Trump alleged that the media and Biden are trying to cover up the fraudulent activities of the president-elect and the Democratic National Committee during the election.

Giuliani intimated that there would be a federal lawsuit to expose the fraudulent activities of Biden and Democrats. An anonymous individual from the White House told news reporters that the president is willing to concede defeat and peacefully relinquish power to Biden if the courts find no claim of voter fraud in the affected states.

Supporters of Trump have taken to the streets in Atlanta, Tallahassee, Bismarck, Phoenix, Austin, and other cities in the nation to refute the results of the elections. Some appear in groups of a few dozens while others are thousands, all chanting and sporting signs such as “This isn’t over” and “Stop the fraud”. The supporters seem to be repeating the president’s evidence-free allegations that the election should have favored him.

There have been no reports of widespread among the pro-Trump supporters though there are reports that a large number of them are with weapons. There have however been reports of slight altercations as tempers run high between the supporters of the president-elect and Trump’s supporters.
